A collections of pictures, songs and stories from my travels and occasional misadventures.

Hooray for Detroit!

Indie rock meets chamber music…in Detroit. In Love.

For the sake of our relationship…

…I skipped brunch today to learn how to make mutter paneer from Babloo. I’ll post the full recipe soon. Love you!

Something to look forward to

India’s fascinating, but looking at this photo makes me want to be in Seattle so much! This was taken from a park just by Graham’s place, overlooking Ballard and Salmon Bay.

This is what my supervisor, Kamini, will be doing this weekend with her son. It’s called the Pinnawela Elephant Sanctuary. They’re going bottle-feed babies. I think we may have found a place for our next vacation.
Also, there’s Bentota.

As it’s gotten rainier here, more and more creatures start coming out. Mosquitoes have started getting annoying. But then there are these cute l little critters that dart across the table when you’re least expecting them.

What a day! Had 2 meetings today, both with really hard to get people. Great conversations and leads for further interviews. I think I deserve a little snack. Cute, little guys aren’t they? A little greasy, but I have a feeling that’s what makes them so delicious. The round guys are called Bekan Wuri or something. My colleague Moreshwar shared them with me at the office last week. This other guy - I have no idea what it’s called. My strategy going to the bakery is to just look at what might be tasty and point. It’s super sweet and chewy, and taste’s like cardamom and almonds.

If you’re ever stuck for hours at Charles de Gaulle Airport on a layover, wander your way to end of the main terminal and you’ll find these great lounge chairs for a quick (or long) afternoon nap. Granted, I had been traveling for quite a few hours already, but I was out like a light and didn’t wake up until the nagging phone alarm started buzzing in my hand.
